PURPOSE:To prevent any unnecessary coast brake state in advance by providing a controller for making the other controllable frictional engaging device into the non-coast brake state after controlling it when one of the frictional engaging devices is failed. CONSTITUTION:A speed change controller wherein a sub speed change part 1 and a main speed change part 2 are connected to each other in series can make the coast brake state by engaging respective frictional engaging devices 3, 4 with each other of the sub speed change part 1 and the main speed change part 2. A fail detecting means 5 for detecting the fail state discapable of being switched of any one of the frictional engaging devices 3, 4 and a coast brake control means 6 for making the non-coast brake state by controlling the other frictional engaging devices 3, 4 when the fail state of any one of frictional engaging devices 3, 4 is detected are provided. Accordingly, engine brake is not immediately brought in play even if any one of frictional engaging devices 3, 4 is failed. |
