PURPOSE: To advance an exchange efficiency and attempt small sizing by equipping an exchange device with a bundle of hollow fibers in the outer casing and a center core having inlet and outlet manifolds placed in the center of the bundle of fibers relating to the exchange device of an artificial lung which replaces carbon dioxide in the blood with oxygen. CONSTITUTION: The membranous exchange device to be used as an artificial lung has a cylindrical outer tube 22 made of a transparent plastic material and an outer casing consisting of inlet and outlet caps 24 and 26 placed on both sides of the outer tube 22 and houses an oxygen feeding module 18 in the outer easing. The oxygen feeding module 18 is equipped with a bundle of hollow fibers 32 formed by aligning a plural number of fibers in parallel which are linked to inlet and outlet ports 29 and 31 of the second fluid (oxygen). Further, inside the bundle of hollow fibers, the center core of the cylindrical tube including inlet and outlet manifolds 44 and 46 connected to the inlet and outlet ports 28 and 30 for the first fluid (blood) which is maintained at a specified temperature by way of a heat exchange module 20, is placed.
