PURPOSE:To obtain a fluoran compound excellent in various performances required as a color former for recording material. CONSTITUTION:2-(3-Ethylanilino)-3-methyl-6-diethylaminofluoran and a recording material containing the same as the electron donating color former. The recording material made by using the fluoran compound is excellent on the whole in various characteristics, such as the whiteness of non-image area, the formed color and the shelf stability of the image.
