<p>PURPOSE:To make an absorption tower compact by eliminating the increase in the amount of flying mist even when the flow rate of gas in the tower is increased and besides, making the volume of a gas inlet part and a gas outlet small to the utmost. CONSTITUTION:A partition plate 11 is installed in an absorption tower A slurry absorbent is sprayed from spray nozzles 7 to waste gas introduced from an inlet part 1 against the flow of gas, and flying droplets of the slurry absorbent are removed in a prestage absorbing part of the tower as much as possible. After that, the flow of gas is reversed in a reversing part 8 to remove mist by a mist eliminator 9. Since the slurry absorbent is brought into countercurrent contact with the flow of gas in the absorbing part only and then the flow of gas is reversed, most of the flying droplets are removed, allowing the velocity of the flow of gas in the tower to be increased as compared with conventional devices.</p> |
