A display device and an electronic apparatus are provided to suppress a defective display mode by applying reverse potential to a pixel electrode before additional potential is applied to an additional potential line. A display device includes a display portion(110) and driving circuits(120,130). Pixels are arranged in a matrix formation in the display portion. The driving circuit selects respective rows of the pixels and applies additional potentials to pixel electrodes of the pixel using a coupling. The driving circuit changes reverse potential of the voltage applied to the pixel electrode to a proper voltage for an additional potential line before the additional potential is applied. Scan, auxiliary lines(142-1~142-m), and signal lines(143-1~143-n) are arranged in the pixel(110PXL). The auxiliary lines and the signal lines operate as additional potential lines. The pixel includes pixel cells, a switching element, and a capacitive element(CS111). The driving circuit applies predetermined pulses to the scan and auxiliary lines at predetermined timings.
