In the supply line (1) to a centrifugal separator a throttling valve (2) regulates the flow under the control of a pressure regulator (7). The valve plunger is raised and lowered by a pneumatic piston and cylinder (3). The regulator which controls its air pressure is an overflow valve. - The control member (10) of the pressure regulator is pushed downwards against a supporting membrane (9) forming the base of the overflow chamber (11) by a spring (8) above. The force of the spring is adjusted manually by a handwheel (12). Instead of this spring, pneumatic control can be used. The throttling valve can be operated hydraulically instead of pneumatically.
