The present invention relates to a device having the dual objective of making it possible, on the one hand, to transfer end to end on a strip of paper (2) drawings which differ slightly from one another and which correspond to the successive phases of graphic animation and, on the other hand, to drive this tape (2) in a jerky fashion in order to animate the drawings for which it is the medium. This device comprises an optical system (51) intended to project the image of any drawing occupying a given segment of the strip onto the adjacent segment so that, in drawing a sequence, the operator using the tip of his pencil simultaneously follows the outlines of the drawing in progress and those of the previous drawing to be modified; and driving means (5, 6) intended to cause the drawings to file past intermittently in order to give the visual sensation of continuous movement. <IMAGE>
