The slabs (1,2) are rectangular in shape and placed on a flat and horizontal surface. The body of the slab (3,4) has shaped sections (5,6) on all four sides. The mechanical join between the two slabs results from ribs (11, 12, 11a, 12a) running lengthwise along the slab which are shaped so that they slot into a matching groove (17,17a) in the adjacent slab. Process for manufacturing slabs by placing pre-formed body in a mould and moulding on the shaped sections in plastic. Process for placing shaped sections in mould and then moulding slab material. USE/ADVANTAGE - Slabs do not need to be set in concrete. Quicker to install, less disruption. Better acoustic insulation. Can leave areas for ducting cables and pipes. |
