This device comprises: - a cell (21) capable of being at least partially filled with the slag (22) to be used during the cement formation; - in each cell (21), at a first level, a first sieve (23) made of a sintered material, simulating a formation and, at a second level higher than the first, a second sieve (24) made of a sintered material, connected to a gas detection means, the levels of the two sieves being such that they are embedded in the slag being studied; - a pressurised gas source connected, on the one hand, to the first sieve and, on the other hand, to a balloon (28) partially filled with water, the water/gas interface in this balloon being located at a level lower than that of the first sieve (23); - and a means for connecting the water-filled part of the balloon (28) to the upper part of the cell, above the upper level of the slag (22). <IMAGE>
