The invention relates to a probe for insemination and treatment and sampling, comprising a semirigid tube (1) supporting a wad (2) of flexible foam material, having an axisymmetric shape and provided with a duct passing through it longitudinally, this tube being housed in the duct over a part of its length. This probe should not cause injury and not cause trauma, should be easy to handle, with progressive rapid penetration, should be correctly leaktight and should make it possible to minimise the risks of introduction into the urinary meatus of the animal. According to the invention, the plug (2) has, between a front end zone (21) and a rear end zone (22), a central zone (24) whose periphery is a frustoconical or cylindrical surface hollowed by at least one spiral groove (25) in this surface, with a pitch greater than the long diameter of the central zone. <IMAGE>
