The boiler is intended for burning liquid or gaseous fuels and comprises a water-conducting housing (1) in which a firebox (3) opening out in a burner-side waste gas-guiding space (2) is arranged. At least one waste-gas pipe (5) passing through the water-conducting housing (1) and leading to the rear side of the housing opens into the waste gas-guiding space (2) above the firebox (3) equipped with closure door (4). In order to prevent or substantially reduce the formation of perspiration water or precipitations of condensate in the region of the waste gas-guiding space (2), such a boiler is designed in such a way that a waste gas-shielding shell (10), which covers the waste gas-overflow region (9) to the waste-gas pipe (5) and has an overflow opening (11) to the waste-gas pipe (5), is arranged in the waste gas-guiding space (2), at least over the longitudinal axis (8) of the firebox, in front of the housing front wall (7) which bounds the waste gas-guiding space (2), forming a distance gap (6) to the said housing front wall (7). <IMAGE>
