The present invention relates to a seal between a feed pipe and a heating element of a heater through which water flows. In order to be able to absorb displacements of the heating element with respect to the inflow pipe which are based on thermal expansions, the invention proposes to use a sleeve as a transition piece in the region of two bores to be connected, said transition piece carrying an O-ring on its outer circumference. When the heating element 3 and the inflow pipe 2 are clamped onto one another, this O-ring is elastically deformed and reliably seals the transition point.
