A laminated permselective membrane comprises alternating selective and permeable layers on a support membrane, in which: (a) the permeable layers have at least twice the permeability of the selective layers; (b) the selective layers have at least 50% greater selectivity than the permeable layers; (c) there are at least 2n layers (n being at least 2 and being the number of selective layers); (d) the thickness of each layer is less than 5 microns; (e) the selective layers are prepd. by plasma polymerisation; and (f) the cumulative resistance of the selective layer is 50 % or more of the overall membrane resistance to permeation. |
