The invention relates to a terminal device with a speech device (2) to process speech signals and with an interface (6) for exchanging signals between a network, the speech device (2) and a control circuit (1). On switching to selection mode, the control circuit is provided to supply a selection of names from a stored and ordered list to a display device (8) and to mark a name from the selection. Furthermore, the control circuit (1) serves in selection mode, following a specific keypad input, to carry out a modification of the selection supplied to the display device (8) and the marking, or only the marking of a name, or, following a voice input of a name, to carry out a comparison with the names held in the stored list, to mark the name which is the most similar to the spoken name, and to supply a selection from the list with the marked name.
