Controller for at least one water heater, which controller is connected to temperature sensors (19, 19', 19'') arranged at various points on the heater. In order to be able to use such a controller for different types of water heaters, it is provided that the controller has a non-volatile memory (23), in which the range limits of the usual operating values of the individual temperature sensors (19, 19', 19'') are stored, and a self-testing device which can be activated cyclically via a timing circuit (22) and during the first self-test writes the result of the comparison of the values of the temperature sensors (19, 19', 19'') with the stored range limits as identifier into the non-volatile memory (23). Also provided is a diagnostic and display unit (24) which as the operation continues compares the values of the sensors (19, 19', 19'') with the stored range limits and compares the result with the identifier. <IMAGE> |
