The device for thermal insulation of large diameter piping is formed by am assemblage of compressed prismatic assemblages (1) of fibrous material fixed by threading, arranged beside one another with the fibres oriented plumb to the outer and inner surface of the piece. The compressed blanks (1) are assembled in the longitudinal direction plumb to the direction of fibres and threaded by several rows in two vertically offset planes, guided at the upper side of the piece and the lower plane is in the area of the lower side of the piece. On the upper side of the assemblage there is a cover layer (2), overlapping the edge blanks (1), to which it is fixed. The threading is formed by binding elements (5,6), whose ends are fixed to rods (4), appended to the edge blanks (1) of the piece.<IMAGE>
