A damping element is proposed in the form of a hollow body of elastically deformable material, with two openings connecting the hollow space to the outside, of which the one is a choke opening arranged at any location and the other is a compensating opening of considerably larger cross-section in the mounting surface of the damping element in order to be completely closed there by a component striking the damping element for as long as this component bears against this surface of the damping element. The damping element is intended to arrest the striking component in the end impact position after its dampened impact. This is intended to avoid, in particular, spring-back of the component. For this purpose, the choke opening is provided with a one-way valve opening to the outside.
