Industrial superlight filaments and process and apparatus for their manufacture

The invention relates to superlight synthetic lumen filaments of high mechanical strength which are realised as continuous hollow filaments whose internal channel - the lumen - has very thin and strong walls. Described are a process and apparatus for manufacturing the filaments whereby a very strong molecular orientation of the polymeric film structure which forms the lumen walls is achieved. The superlight filaments of high mechanical strength are advantageously used as reinforcing structures in composites, in energetics, medicine, chemistry.
