In a known device, sealing balls of the guide device are held in a guide band. These sealing balls are pressed into the conveying passage of the screw conveyor by means of a pressure strip which can be adjusted by a handwheel. According to the invention, the band projects in its width beyond the sealing elements, encloses the latter in a sealing manner and is made of an elastically resilient material. In addition, the pressure strip has at least one pressure segment which is arranged so as to be elastically movable radially to the axis of the screw conveyor.
