<p>The wound balls (2,3) are loosely bonded together at a number of welding points (6) on facing surfaces. They bond the outer layers (4) of the wound balls (2,3) together. The balls (2,3) are pref. wound in a cylindrical shape, to be bonded together at their end sides, with a thermoplastic string (4) as the wound material. At the facing surfaces of the two wound balls (2,3) heat is applied to bring the thermoplastic material to m.pt., and the balls (2,3) are pressed against each other to be welded together. USE/ADVANTAGE - The wound balls e.g. of string, ribbon, yarn, thread etc. are loosely bonded together in pairs to be packaged in shrunk tubes or blister packs for display at the point of sale. The method bonds at least two wound balls together with cost effective mfg. and min. material consumption. There is no waste and the wound balls are strongly held together.</p> |
