PURPOSE:To take out a recovery toner in a recovery toner container and to use an image carrier up to its service life by providing a sensor detecting that the recovery toner contained in the recovery toner container reaches a fixed amount and an outlet for the contained recovery toner. CONSTITUTION:The remainder toner on a photosensitive drum 1 is removed by a main blade 8, drops in a recovery blade 11, stagnates on a receiving plate 10, sticks to a recovery roller 12, is scraped by a scraper plate 13 and contained in the recovery toner container 2. At the time of the amount of the toner increases such that it overflows in the recessed grooves 4a an 4b of a cover 3, light beams emitted from the light emitting part 5a of a sensor 5 are blocked, and a control circuit displays the amount of the recovery toner on a display.
