An air filter comprises a housing (1) that contains particulate gas absorbing material arranged in at least one horizontal layer supported on an air-permeable substrate. The housing allows air to flow through the absorbent material in a vertical direction. The absorbent layer is provided on a first layer of air-permeable material with a lower specific flow resistance than the absorbent material. The extension of this first layer in the horizontal plane leaves a gap between this layer and the inner walls (3, 4) of the casing. The gap is filled with particles of absorbent material to a height in the flow direction that corresponds to the sum of the thickness of the first layer plus the thickness of the absorbent layer. |
