A document-reading apparatus, such as a facsimile machine which is capable of smoothly leading documents of long paper sizes and capable of compactly housing a document tray 14 in a main body is provided. The document-reading apparatus is capable of housing the document tray 14 in the main body thereof by rotating the document tray 14, the document tray 14 being provided with a supplementary document tray 41 for expanding the document-supporting surface of the document tray 14 for larger size documents. The supplementary tray can be rotatably supporter, as shown, slidabie, fig 8, (not shown) or removably fastened onto the mounting, Fig 5, (not shown). <IMAGE>
