The feed unit has a flow-type pump with an impeller (14) which is provided with blades (46) distributed over its circumference and starting from its end faces (42). The impeller (14) is arranged in a pump chamber (20) which is bounded in the axial direction by wall parts (22, 24) and in the radial direction by a housing part (28). Formed in that face of each wall part (22, 24) which faces the impeller (14) is an annular delivery passage (58, 60) which is connected in its one end region to an inlet side and, in its other end region, to a discharge side. One delivery passage (58) has a direct connection (62) to the inlet side. Between the outer circumference of the impeller (14) and the inner circumference of the housing part (28) there remains a radial gap (66) which, in the region of the connection (62) to the inlet side, is of a size such that an inlet passage (68) is formed which likewise connects the other delivery passage (60) to the inlet side.
