A cavity resonator in which coupling between wave types existing therein can be produced with the lowest possible expenditure, has coupling means which consist of at least one aperture (8, 9) made in the end(s) (2, 3) of the cavity resonator (1). The position, size and shape of these apertures determine which wave modes are coupled together and how great the coupling efficiency is. <IMAGE>
