The object underlying the invention is to develop a process in which the formation of a corrosion environment on the underside of flat-bottom tank bottoms is excluded. According to the invention a combination of air drying and cathodic protection is used in such a way that the air is not drawn in by suction in an uncontrolled manner due to technologically caused movements of the tank bottom, but the air exchange proceeds via orifices specially designed for this and furnished with an air-drying unit, and corrosion attack caused by faults in the insulating layer is eliminated by cathodic protection of the tank bottom.
