The invention relates to a safety screw-on closure for a container, in particular a container for storing substances which must not be tampered with during transportation. The safety screw-on closure has a cap which is screwed onto the threaded part of the container neck and a closure safeguard in the form of a clamping ring (5) which is mounted in the cap with sawtooth-like catches and a spring element (23), which closure safeguard, together with abutments (2) provided on the container top part, produces a positive-locking connection which cannot be released without destruction. The clamping ring (5) is mounted so as to be secure against rotation and axially displaceable in an annular portion (14) of the cap. The length (L) of the annular portion (14) is dimensioned such that, when the cap has been fully screwed on, only a minimum gap (24) remains exposed between the lower edge of the cap and the top of the container. The safety screw-on closure can be opened in a destructive manner by piercing a cross-shaped notch (18) located on the top of the cap. <IMAGE>
