The connection set-up of transmission devices is intended to be controlled with the indication of logical addresses. For this purpose, an allocation of the logical addresses to physical addresses must be carried out when the communications network is commissioned. This takes place according to the invention in that the individual transmission devices control a connection set-up to a transmission device with a master function via a switching network. This transmission device then carries out a corresponding allocation and notifies the other transmission devices of the result. These transmission devices then control a connection set-up to themselves, whereby a corresponding allocation is then likewise present in the switching network.
