A cutting insert intended to be fixed in a milling cutter is circle-round to an extent of about 3/4. The remaining fourth comprises two mutually substantially perpendicular side surfaces (4 and 5), whereby a part (6) of one of the two side surfaces adjacent to the corner between them forms a parallel land and is inclined so that it forms an obtuse angle with both said surfaces. By this rounded construction, the angle of the parallel land (the angle between the parallel land cutting edge (11) and the machined surface) can be adjusted very accurately, which results in smooth surfaces, without changing the preset clamping force of the cutting insert. |
