A solar cylinder for a solar-power installation has a glass cylinder (2) in which a high negative pressure can be built up, a catacaustic metal-coating (6) which is formed on an envelope segment of the glass cylinder (2), and a lamellar tube (4) which is arranged parallel to and inside the glass cylinder (2). To improve the efficiency of such a solar cylinder, the longitudinal axis (Z) of the lamellar tube (4) is arranged at a vertical distance (X) from the longitudinal axis (Y) of the glass cylinder (2) and the envelope segment bearing the catacaustic metal-coating (6) extends over that envelope half of the glass cylinder (2) into which the lamellar tube (4) is displaced, and over two circumferential segments (7, 8) adjoining this envelope half on both sides. <IMAGE>
