<p>The invention relates to a base station for a cellular radio system comprising switching centres (101, MSC) and base stations connected thereto by time-division telecommunication links (103), said base station comprising: one or more transceiver units (107, 108) for establishing radio links, a multiplexer/demultiplexer means (104) for multiplexing (203) transmission channels on said telecommunication links (103), for extracting (210, 216) synchronization and clock signals, and for demultiplexing (203) data to be sent from the base station to a transmission channel of the telecommunication link.
