The invention relates to a folding and guiding device for an endless conveyor band which is composed of segments and which is guided between at least two deflecting devices. The object was to develop a folding and guiding device which makes do with substantially fewer operating elements than known solutions and which is characterised by robustness and operating reliability and is therefore suitable for providing a device of high efficiency. With this in view, sliding or rolling devices are used on the pull means and the folding segments. For the guidance of the conveyor band, these sliding or rolling devices engage into guide tracks arranged parallel to the band. The design of the guide tracks makes it possible to fold open the segments in predetermined regions. Closing takes place in various ways on the deflecting devices. <IMAGE>
