Method and device for tensioning the conveying member of a continuous conveyor

The invention relates to a method for tensioning the conveying member, especially the conveying chain, of a continuous conveyor, especially a chain conveyor. The invention relates, further, to a device for the preferred execution of the abovementioned method. The object on which the invention is based is to specify a tensioning method which leads to a reliable tension of the conveying member. This object is achieved, according to the invention, in that the conveying member is first tensioned to a predetermined (high) degree of tensioning, and in that the tension is then relaxed by a specific amount to a working tension.
