CONTAINER TRANSFER PROCESS AND ARRANGEMENT

A shipping container (26I, 26II) is transferred from a location A on the ship to a location B on shore. On its way between both locations A and B the container (26I, 26II) is transferred at a position C from a container loading crane (16) to conveyor means (40) on the shore. At this location (C), the container (26I, 26II) is laid on holders (34) for intermediate coupling units which have a recess (54) for each intermediate coupling unit (30). The intermediate coupling units (30) may then either be coupled to the container (26I, 26II), when the container is loaded on the ship (28) and must be locked there by means of the intermediate coupling units (30), or they may be uncoupled from the container (26I, 26II), when the container is leaving the ship (28) and is to be deposited on shore (12) without intermediate coupling units (30).
