The invention relates to a rope drum for rope-operated window raisers, especially in a motor vehicle, which automatically compensate the rope slack which occurs, without at the same time disturbing the window-raiser system. An advantage of the rope drum is that it eliminates only the so-called genuine rope slack which is present in the relaxed state of the window raiser. The rope drum according to the invention is characterised in that there is provided for compensating the rope slack a part (20, 20A, 21, 22, 23, 24) which is relatively movable in relation to the outer rope-drum wall (102, 102A, 112, 122, 132, 142) and which is arranged within the rope drum (10, 10A, 11, 12, 13, 14) and is connected to one rope end of the rope loop, the rope (3), starting from the movable part (20, 20A, 21, 22, 23, 24), being guided through a channel (31, 100A) onto the rope-drum wall (102, 102A, 112, 122, 132, 142), and in that, when the rope drum (10, 10A, 11, 12, 13, 14) is subjected to load by the rope (3), the part (20, 20A, 21, 22, 23, 24) is retained on the rope drum (10, 10A, 11, 12, 13, 14). <IMAGE>
