A load-carrier foot is provided for fastening a load-carrier strut on a vehicle roof (9) and exhibits a supporting portion (7) which supports the foot on the vehicle. Furthermore, the load-carrier foot is provided with a clamping portion (12) which, under the action of a clamping mechanism (18, 22, 24), can be pressed against a strip (10) on the vehicle in order thus to fasten the load-carrier foot. The clamping portion (12) is provided in its central region with a pivotable or tiltable anchorage means (13) in the body (1) of the load-carrier foot, with the result that a clamping element (14) which is arranged at one end, can be moved into engagement with the strip (10) and can be released therefrom again. The opposite end (15) of the clamping portion (12) can be actuated by means of one end (20) of a lever (18), the said lever being fastened pivotably in the body (1), and it being possible for the other end (21) of said lever to be actuated by a cam portion (24) on a pivotable operating handle (22). <IMAGE>
