Described is an inert material for concretes or mortars, obtainable by a process comprising the steps of (a) collecting the slurries coming from a granite processing; (b) drying said slurries up to a water content of from 10 to 20% by weight; (c) shaping the thus dried slurry into granules having an essentially spheroidal form; and (d) baking said granules in a non-static kiln; optionally in the presence of melting and/or strengthening and/or expanding agents.
