The compression folding machine has at least one pair of folding rollers having at least one folding pocket which has a rail (6) which extends over the width of the folding pocket, is fixed to lateral adjusting members and has, on its side facing the folding pocket mouth (2) formed by an upper mouth part (3) and a lower mouth part (8), a plurality of fingers (1) whose front, concavely curved end faces (7) lie in a common plane and which are adjustable by means of the rail (6) between a sheet stop position within the folding pocket and a sheet deflecting position at the mouth (2) of the folding pocket. The upper mouth part (3) has a section (5) which continues over the width of the folding pocket, is inclined inwards into the mouth (2) of the folding pocket, and from which guide tabs (4) inclined obliquely inwards into the mouth (2) of the folding pocket protrude into a part of the mouth (2) of the folding pocket and, meshing with the fingers (1) and together with the continuous section (5), form a sheet deflector with a continuous impact surface. <IMAGE>
