System for controlling a vehicle on the basis of an estimation of the driving experience of a vehicle driver

The driving experience of a vehicle driver is determined by how the driver of a vehicle controls the latter when driving. The driving can be evaluated by comparing an actual driving path of the vehicle with an ideal or reference vehicle driving path. The estimated driving experience is used as a control parameter of a vehicle steering system which, for example, provides a steering characteristic which is dependent on the yaw rate of the vehicle or produces a reaction which corresponds to the yaw rate of the vehicle and opposes a steering-input signal. An experienced vehicle driver will thus welcome the lively handling of the vehicle and may manoeuvre the vehicle as desired whereas an inexperienced vehicle driver will welcome the stable handling of the vehicle and will find the vehicle easier to handle and less tiring.
