摘要 The invention relates to a measuring device for measuring the sharpness of cutting edges (cutting-edge sharpness measuring device). A cutting edge is the part of a lip of a tool which is formed by the blade itself and a small region of the two adjoining lateral faces. A cutting edge should be uniformly rounded (with a rounding radius typically in the range of 1 to 20 mu m), in order to withstand the cutting forces and should exhibit no jaggedness and no breaks. The cutting-edge sharpness measuring device measures, with automatic edge tracking, the sharpness of the edge on the basis of the scattered light from an edge illuminated by a point of light, which scattered light is produced by the edge rounding, and measures the breaks from the variations of said scattered light along the edge and regulates the position of the edge with respect to the point of light on the basis of the light proportion of the point of light, incident on only one lateral face, which passes over the edge.
