Acetals of podophyllotoxin.beta.-D-glucopyranoside or of 4'-demthylpodophyllotoxin-.beta.- D- glucopyranoside having general formula a) wherein R is OH or OCH3, and R' is an alkyl, aryl or heterocyclic residue, are used for the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment or prophylaxis of states of amyloidosis.
