<p>PURPOSE:To industrially and advantageously obtain the subject high-purity derivative having high purity and useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for blood cholesterol lowering agent by reacting a specific methylphosphonate derivative, etc., with a monoester of oxyglutamic acid and then purifying and esterifying the reactional product. CONSTITUTION:A methylphosphonate derivative or methylphosphine oxide derivative expressed by formula I [R<1> and R<2> are 1-5C alkoxy, 7-9C aralkyloxy, 7-9C halogenoaralkyloxy or phenyl) is made to react with an oxyglutamic acid monoester of formula II (R<3> is 1-10C alkyl; R<4> is hydroxyl protecting group) to afford a reactional product containing an oxyglutaric acid derivative expressed by formula III. Then, this reactional product is purified to isolate an oxyglutaric acid derivative and this oxyglutaric acid derivative is esterified with an esterification agent to provide the objective high-purity oxyglutaric acid ester derivative of formula IV (R<5> is 1-10C alkyl) useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for blood cholesterol lowering agents.</p> |
