<p>PURPOSE:To make the utilization of a peripheral device efficient by recognizing the kind of the peripheral device which is effectively connected and displaying the icon corresponding to the kind of the recognized peripheral device on a display screen. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 1 after being powered ON executes various initializing processes at the time of the actuation of the system. At this time, the CPU 1 recognizes the kind of the peripheral device which is effectively connected to the system main body. Then the CPU 1 displays the icon corresponding to the kind of the peripheral device, effectively connected to the system main body, on the display screen of a display 14. The display data of the icon are previously stored in a ROM 3. In this case, the icons corresponding to a page printer 18, an FDD 6, an HDD 8, IC card 10, etc., are displayed. The CPU 1 sets discrimination for discriminating the peripheral device corresponding to the displayed icon in a RAM 2.</p> |
