PURPOSE:To provide a fail-safe switch means and improve the safety of manual steering after motor runaway by accurately detecting the existence of the runaway of the steering control motor in automatic steering control. CONSTITUTION:A gear ratio changing mechanism 25 having a steering control motor 36 and a torque control motor 38 for automatic steering is provided between the handle side input shaft 21 of the steering device of a vehicle and a tire side output shaft 22. A fail-safe switch means 70 mechanically detecting the runaway of a steering control motor 36 is provided between the input shaft 21 and the output shaft 22. A clamp means 60 directly connecting and fixing the input shaft 21 and the output shaft 22 via the operation at the time of the motor runaway or the handle action by a driver is provided, and the safety of manual steering after the motor runaway is secured. |
