PURPOSE:To provide an information recording medium using an org. material and having excellent rewritability. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer is formed on a substrate with a compsn. based on an alicyclic polymer of methacrylic ester having a 5-14C alicyclic hydrocarbon group at the alcohol component part of the ester and an associable dye such as a naphthalocyanine dye to obtain the objective information recording medium. When this recording medium is used, information can be recorded with semiconductor laser widely used now and it can be erased with laser or by heating. This recording medium is innoxious. Drive as the mainstream in the conventional optical recording system can be used as it is and this recording medium can also be used as a rewriting recording medium dealing with CD.
