<p>PURPOSE:To provide an exciter for an alternating current generator that has a fault detecting function of enabling the early detection of causes of overvoltage in output and prompt remedy for faults to if a driving element that supplies an exciter with an exciting current is failed and conductive. CONSTITUTION:This exciting device for an alternating current generators consists of a first detecting means 16, a second detecting means 18 and a fault detecting means. The first detecting means 16 detects the conduction of a driving element 4 that supplies an exciter 2 with an exciting current. The second detecting means 2 detects the conduction of a second driving element 11 that supplies the first driving element 4 with driving signals. The fault detecting means judges the first driving element 4 short-circuited if the first detecting means 16 detects the conduction of the first driving element 4 and the second detecting means 18 judges that the driving signal of the second driving element 11 to the first driving element 4 is not in a drive state.</p> |
