Integrated-optic component comprising a plane base substrate (10) carrying waveguides (16) emerging on two side faces (14, 15) which are opposite each other and arranged between a bottom coating (11) and an upper coating (13). Each waveguide comprises at least two zones: an end zone (104), located in the vicinity of one of the side faces (14), and an intermediate zone (106), extending the end zone. The cross-section of the waveguide (16, 16') is rectangular in the region of the transition between the end and intermediate zones and substantially circular (16') in the region of the side face (14), the transformation from rectangular cross-section to circular cross-section being progressive along the end zone. The index of the waveguide (16, 16') and the difference between this index and the index of the coatings (11, 13) decrease progressively with the transformation. <IMAGE> |
