PURPOSE:To provide a data filing device with satisfactory operability for registration and retrieval regardless of the amount of registered data. CONSTITUTION:This device is provided with both a symbol registration and retrieval part 50 to use a method using an icon as the input method of attribute information to be the key of retrieval and a keyword registration and retrieval part 55 to use a method for directly inputting a keyword from a keyboard. A document number detection part 3 detects the number of already registered files. Corresponding to this detected result, a selection part 4 selectively uses both the parts. Namely, when the number of files is small, the symbol registration and retrieval part 50 is used. When the number of files is large, the keyword registration and retrieval part 55 is used. Thus, the man-machine interface of the data filing device can be considerably improved. |
