PURPOSE:To provide a device and method for managing software transfer capable of automatizing the transfer/operation starting processings of a transfer object software and easily monitoring transfer/operation conditions. CONSTITUTION:A distribution origin computer 1 is provided with a transfer management file 1A provided with the information of the software name of the transfer object software, a transfer origin directory name, a transfer destination computer name, temporary and main transfer destination directory names, a transfer scheduled date, a transfer execution date, an operation start scheduled date and an operation start execution date. Respective transfer destination computers 2 are provided with the transfer management files 2A for which the file 1A is copied. Then, when the transfer destination computer 2 is started, the transfer management files 1A and 2A are searched and the transfer/ operation starting processings are automatically performed.
