PURPOSE:To fix a Fab' fragment to a resinous optical fiber without deteriorating the activity of an antibody by crosslinking the surface of the core of the optical fiber with the Fab' fragment following a specific formula. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber with a Fab' fragment fixed thereto has the Fab' filament crosslinked according to the formula I (R is (CH2)n, (n) is 1-6; -C6H10-CH2-; -C6H4-R'-, R' is H or (CH2)m, (m) is 1-3) or the formula II (R is-CH2-O-CH2-or-C6H4-) and fixed to the surface of a core, and is usable effectively in fluoroscopic immunoassay. The Fab' fragment is an antigenbonded fragment obtained by digesting an immunoglobrin with pepsin and lightly reducing and cutting the F(ab')z obtained. The Fab' fragment is also a component where the portion of an H chain corresponding to about the half of an N end is disulfide-bonded to an L chain and has monovalent antibody activity. Preferably, the resin from which the optical fiber is made is e.g. a polyacrilyc ester, and in particular a polymethyl methacrylate of good translucency. |
